Defence Drill : Defensive Structure

Drill Explanation:

Defensive line start between two set cones.

Coach will call a pattern of colors. (Defending Points)

Defensive line to follow that pattern.

This drill can work with any defensive structure.

At each defending point the defending line must set up the defending structure.

One player from group must fall on the ball at each point and becomes the offside line.

Objective:

Develop the defensive structure

Equipment:

3 Ball, 14 Cones

Key Factors / Coaching Points:

- Communication between players
- Being vocal
- Body language (Aggressive, low position)
- Move forward as one line
- Eyes looking both ways to keep a structured line
- Pace of line consistent
- Keep a consistent gap between individuals in the defensive line
- Lead with tackling shoulder with arm out pointing at feet of opponent.
