Within this section you will find a number of Defensive drills. These drills vary from looking at the structure of the defence to looking at the tackle technique. A good defensive structure will prevent the opposition breaking the gain line which can result in you wining back the ball. Five Key Elements of a good Defensive Structure: 1. Pressure - Defences need to limit the time and space attacking teams have. This in return will minimise the options available and help you regain the ball. 2. Gain Ground - Attacking teams have one ambition and that is to get over the gain line. It's the defences job to stop them. A good strucured fast line of defence will enable you to stop this. 3. Physicality - A good defensive system will win this area. This enabling them to regain the ball. 4. Body Language - Defences need to be ready for contact and get the pshycological advantage over the attack team. 5. Communication - The defensive line must be vocal.
